12 Days of Christmas, Memory 12, Magic Kingdom Christmas Tree Lighting: On the night of our Anniversary in December 2006, we had a bit of time before our dinner reservations at the California Grille, so we rode the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom and caught the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony that occurs at the head of Main Street.

The announcer comes on, and the orchestra begins their holiday medley as the show begins.

12 Memories of Christmastime: Memory 10 - 4 For A Dollar

11:53 AM
4 For A Dollar
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 13:58

12 Days of Christmas, Memory 10, 4 For a Dollar: As we exited the backstage tour, what do my wondering ears should hear but 4 men singing in perfect harmony. That’s right 4 For A Dollar was performing in the flatbread grille area, to a less than enthusiastic crowd. Traci and I quickly high-tail it over and take a seat near the front. The guys sing 3 more songs to which Traci and I are quite amazed. Afterwards, all four of them walk over to us and chat with us for about 2 minutes (which you’ll get to hear at the end of the recording). Fortunately for us, nobody else was really paying them much attention, because they are one of the best musical groups in all of Walt Disney World, and we got almost a private showing. Anyways, here’s 4 For a Dollar.

Father Christmas
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 8:53

12 Days of Christmas, Memory 08, Father Christmas: In the UK, things are a little more traditional. Father Christmas comes around the corner, singing on a bright and beautiful December day in 2006. He starts by getting a volunteer, which proves harder than it sounds. Then he gets back to his story of Father Christmas, the Christmas card, and Mistletoe.

12 Memories of Christmastime: Memory 04 - La Befana in Italy

9:57 AM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 5:38

12 Days of Christmas, Memory 04, La Befana: Like yesterday, we missed the start of this story, partially because we couldn’t find where she was. We turn around into a bright December sun in 2006, and there she is in the middle of the plaza. We probably only missed the first couple of minutes, and I regret this, because she was really quite good. Anyways, she will share with us her story of missing her chance to meet the Baby Jesus, and that she continues to look for him every year.

Chrismas in Germany
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 6:15

12 Days of Christmas, Memory 03, Germany: As we begin today’s journey, we arrive a little late to Germany to catch our story teller. It’s a beautiful evening in December 2006 as we run up to get there a minute after the story teller has started. She is telling us about how a traditional Christmas time is spent. Then she begins to tell us the story of the first Christmas Tree and the Nutcracker.

The Monkey King
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 6:28

12 Days of Christmas, Memory 02, The Monkey King: We will visit the Monkey King in Epcot’s China pavilion on a beautiful evening in December 2006. The sun is setting, and the sky is beautiful. We hear the Monkey King approaching from our left, and of course sees me standing there with my video camera and has to say hello. Then he takes his place in the plaza in front of the Sun Palace. Then he dances and entertains us with how he came to be.

2:30 PM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 10:33

As a special this year, we're going to celebrate with the 12 Memories of Christmastime in Walt Disney World. Each day, from now through Christmas day, I will be releasing a short podcast with minimal editing, and taking you directly to a special holiday treat, something that can be found at Walt Disney World during the Holiday season.

12 Days of Christmas, Memory 01, The Three Kings: We're going to start our 12 Days of Christmas in Epcot at the Mexico Pavilion. It's a warm morning in December 2006, and the sun is shining bright. We arrive outside the Mexico pavilion and strike up a conversation with the handler for our special hosts. All of a sudden, we hear the voices behind us, and the 3 Magical Kings walk right by us up to the stage in the front, where they begin to tell us about how Christmas is celebrated in Mexico, with traditions, folklore, and parties.

10:23 PM
American Vybe
**Stereo Audio**
Time: 31:09

Today’s memory is a continuation from memory 20. We are returning today to the American Pavilion for two more sets of American Vybe for my friend Brian of the Mousin’ It Up Podcast. He wrote me a while ago asking if I had any streetmosphere audio. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything that I would consider streetmosphere, so instead we’re visiting the now extinct group, American Vybe.

Time: 21:29

Today’s episode was requested before my hard drive broke. Today’s request came from Brian of the Mousin’ It Up Podcast. He wrote me asking if I had any streetmosphere audio. Unfortunately, I don’t have anything that consider streetsmosphere, so instead I’m going to do a show which I’m sure he would like anyway. Tonight we’re going to catch the American Vybe.

Haunted Mansion
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 16:26

Today’s episode has been requested by multiple individuals. Today we take a ride through The Haunted Mansion.

I don’t remember who exactly requested this first, but I remember receiving at least 3 different emails. So what would be better to get this show going again than one of my favorite attractions. Besides being an entertaining ride, it’s always cool, the line moves well, and the Cast Members obviously love what they’re doing.

Memory 018a - Information Update

12:12 AM
**Stereo Audio**
Time: 3:00

Hello, and welcome to a special information episode of the Walt Disney World Memories Podcast. My name is Lou, and I’ll once again be your host. Today’s show is a bit different from the norm. I feel I owe you an explanation as to why there haven’t been any shows for the past month.

Well, about a month ago, the worst thing that could possibly happen to the podcast did. I dropped my laptop and broke my hard drive to the point where it was no longer readable. Now the data was able to be retrieved, but it has cost me more than what I initially paid for the laptop. The worst part is, that hard drive was the only place I had for my Disney World Audio archives (i.e. I no longer have audio to play). I also lost all your emails with your requests and consequently my planned show schedule.

I know your probably thinking, “Lou why not just record some more audio on your next trip to Disney World?” Well the answer is simple really. My next trip probably won’t be for a couple more years. Traci and I are expecting the birth of our first child in a little less than 3 months, and since we live and work in North Carolina, a trip to Disney World is not in the plans for a while.

This leads me to an inevitable point. I have enjoyed providing this podcast for free, and hope to continue to do so. However, I will be setting up a donation link. So if anyone might wish to help me with the cost of the audio recovery, they can do so in any amount they wish. And once I reach the point of covering that cost, I will stop accepting donations, as I am not in this for the money. I simply enjoy sharing these memories with other Walt Disney World fans and am hoping that you have enjoyed what I’ve been doing enough that you might like to contribute something.

So as I wrap up this update podcast, I want to leave you with these two pieces of advice: 1. Back up everything that is valuable to you on some sort of external media, and 2. don’t walk around carrying a running laptop with the plug hanging from it.

So keep listening, and I’ll see you in a couple of days with Episode 19 of the Walt Disney World Memories Podcast.

Memory 018 - IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth

4:33 PM
High explosion
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 20:03

This episode is little late because I just got back from a week vacation to a part of the country where Cell Phones, Computers, and Internet were not a part of everyday life.

Traci and I just spent a week in Greenville, Maine near Moosehead Lake (that's in Northern Maine). Out here, we hiked, slept, and ate and just had one of the most relaxing vacations ever. The people were AMAZINGLY friendly, the weather reached highs of only 75, and every day we saw at least one Moose. Actually, we saw 23 moose, 8 loons, 1 bear, 1 beaver, dozens of deer, chipmunks, and red squirrels, and enough birds to keep a birder glued to their binoculars the entire time. Best part of all, it was CHEAP. But this isn’t a podcast about Maine, it’s about Walt Disney World, so if you’d like to know more about our trip to Maine, and maybe want to vacation there yourself, email me and I’ll send you some information and links to help get you started. Now back to the show.

Memory 017 - Maelstrom

2:07 PM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 16:00

*LOU'S NOTE: I'm sorry I've been MIA for so long. Between travel, and 2 computer crashes, this podcast has been one of the hardest to get out.*

Today’s episode was suggested to me by Roy of West Point, Mississippi. Today we visit Maelstrom. Today’s audio was recorded in December our anniversary trip to Disney, and is in binaural sound so headphones on again.

Memory 014 - The Wonders of Life

9:42 AM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 54:14

Today’s episode was suggested to me by Luke Manning of the Everything Disney podcasts. His request was The Wonders of Life Pavilion in Epcot. In his email to me, Luke said:
"I was wondering if you could play some audio from the Wonders of Life pavilion. I know you were there in December, so u might have some. If not, then I'd also like to hear Journey into Imagination with Figment. Yeah, they're both Epcot... my favorite park. It holds a enormous place in my heart."

Memory 013 - Pirates of the Caribbean

1:14 AM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 14:51

Today’s audio is yet another recording I made while on vacation last December. Therefore, it’s the latest incarnation of Pirates, now staring Jack Sparrow. I like the way this came out, you can really pick up the ambient sounds. Listen to the group sitting behind me discussing if the first Jack is really him. I am still amazed at this AA.

Memory 012 - Kilimanjaro Safaris

10:00 AM
Reflective Baobab Tree
**Stereo Audio**
Time: 28:47

This audio is a little older and only in stereo, but I like it better than my current binaural recordings. I like it cause I’ve actually got a driver from South Africa, and it was shortly after it opened, so all the frills were still new and working. I recorded this back in 2001 when I was in Orlando for a convention and able to slip away for some fun at the parks. It will kind of jump strait in at loading and we’ll be off.

Memory 010 - Wishes Nighttime Spectacular

10:10 PM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 19:14

The audio you're about to hear I recorded on a night just after new years just before returning home from our Christmas vacation in Florida. We staked out a spot just to the right of the Partners Statue in the hub. The music was a little soft there, and the view is partially blocked by the castle. I think if we were over just a bit more, it would have been perfect. In any case, the audio comes out good. I love how you can hear the audience responding to a beautiful shell, or when Tink flies over head. Just listening to this audio is making me smile.

Memory 009 - It's Tough To Be a Bug

9:10 PM
**Binaural Audio**
Time: 16:02

This episode features audio from It's Tough to be a Bug in the Animal Kingdom. You’re about to hear some great audio of the attraction I recorded in early December 2006 while on vacation with my wife Traci and her parents. We walked right up and through the doors in time for the start of the show. It’s fun to hear the response of the audience, but it wasn’t so crowded that you couldn’t hear the nuances of the show.
