This attraction combines 2 of the common themes amongst the contry pavillions. Maelstrom starts out with a short boat ride, showing you different aspects of Norway, from the industrial side to the mythical side. When you finish the boat ride, you wait in a small town, and are then let in to a movie theater where you will see a movie, explaining more in depth the story of Norway.
I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of the movie. But the boat ride is really nice, if only it was about twice as long... One word of warning, watch out for the trolls.

The humans seen throughout the ride are taken from some of the same molds as other figures used throughout Epcot

The original concept for the attraction was a Troll ride, but the sponsors felt it should incorporate more of Norway and their history, so a trip through time was used instead.
