Test Track
Rating: 4 Stars

The single thrill ride at Epcot, this is a very popular attraction. Here you will get to ride through series of tests that General Motors puts their cars through before selling them to the public. You'll test things like handling in hairpin turns, ABS used while turning, and of course top speeds.

This ride has begun to grow on me. The first time I rode, I wasn't that impressed. However, the last 2 times I've ridden, I'm actually starting to enjoy it more and more. It kind of grows on you.

The computer on each car is actually 3 times more powerful that the computers that run the Space Shuttle

While you only see 4 wheels, there are actually 22 (don’t ask me how that works), and 6 different braking systems.

Each car travels an average of 50,000 miles / year, and are capable of traveling 1 million miles

The ride vehicles are based on the Grand Prix car, and capable of reaching speeds of 150 mph, but the track design doesn’t support that speed. The banks would have been more like Daytona Speedway, and if guests needed to be evacuated, it would have been very difficult to walk on that embankment.

The track is designed to flex and bow to handle the 65 mph turns. It can in fact withstand up to 200 mph winds.

This is the Fastest and longest ride in WDW, with a length of 5246 ft (2600 of which is outside) and reaching of top speed of about 65 mph.

It was supposed to open in spring of 1997, but didn’t open till March 17, 1999 due to technical difficulties and massive amounts of testing and tweaking.
