Pirates of the Caribbean
Rating: 3 Stars

This ride is a classic. Disney took the idea of an attraction to a new level with this addition in 1973. The level ofdetail that Disney takes to making sure that you feel like you are among pirates. But these aren't your normal swash-buckling pirates. These are fun, simple pirates. The idea is for this is to keep it from being scary, but more entertaining. That they did. You just can't help it when you leave to be singing the song. "Yo ho, yo ho: A pirates life for me!"

I love this attraction. And with the latest changes to the attraction, it becomes much much better.

This was the first attraction in the world with an exit into a gift shop, which of course boosted sales

The white haired prisoner at the end of the ride is modeled after a janitor at the Disney Studios

The first update in December 1989 was done to give more political correctness to the ride. The men were orignially chasing the women, now it's vise-versa. Also the scene with a man sitting in front of a barrel talking about finding a treasure used to have a man holding a piece of cloth, talking about a girl he was trying to find.

The pirate ship now has cannon blast that shoot water out of a hole that is smaller than the diamater of a hair at 1000 psi, causing the water to condense like fog

The drop at the beginning actually takes you under the Walt Disney World Railroad

In the queue area, you'll pass by 2 pirate skeletons who are playing a game of chess. Should you study the board close enough, you'll discover that the game is in a stalemate, with no one able to move.

One of the largest users of Audio-Animatronics figures ever attempted by Disney.

Walt Disney passed away before completion of the origianal attraction in Disneyland

Opened December 15, 1973
