Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can't actually be there. Join me as I come back around for a second trip to the other side of LA and rock out the whole way with our buddies from Aerosmith as we continue our short afternoon at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Does anyone have those beautiful fall leaves yet? Here in Kentucky we're still a few weeks away from having full color, but every now and then I see one of those early trees with the hints of yellow or red. These days I'm looking forward to upcoming fall breaks or postseason baseball (maybe it's the Cubbies year this year) or the start of another football season (my Redskins are in the hunt so far). Fall I think is the one time of the year that I haven't actually been to Walt Disney World though. I guess technically I was there for the very first weeks of Food and Wine, and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party, but that happens so early now I don't know if that counts as fall. Maybe one day here I'll plan a trip down just to get away for a few days, to get to enjoy some of the fall offerings in our favorite park. In the meantime, let's escape the easy way into another memory from Disney's Hollywood Studios.
So as I said last time, it was a hot Sunday in June of 2012, you know those kind of days that make you melt the moment you leave the air conditioning. In memory 174, we were standing outside watching the Star Wars Hyperspace Hoopla on Hollywood Boulevard as a storm began rolling in. I've gone ahead and left early and began he walk back up Sunset Boulevard to my 2 favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World. As we get to the end of the road, we'll make a left into Rock 'n' Roller Coaster once again. I was a little mistaken in Memory 174, and I had actually taken the FastPass at that point, but stayed in the Single Rider line that time. This time through though, I'll use the FastPass and get through line quickly as I make my way through the queue and onto the ride in no time. This time though, I'm in the front, so there is a little more wind noise. Riding in the front or the back is not the same as you would expect from most roller coasters. Because of the launch style and the lack off hills, there really is no major benefit to riding in the front or back in my opinion, the one caveat I will say though is, in the front, you get all the wind, and that extra sense kicks in and really helps you feel how fast you are traveling, well worth doing at least once if you can stomach it. Once the ride is over, I'll make my way through the gift shop and back outside into the rain.
Now sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And come with me as I catch a second ride on one of the most amazing coasters I've ever been on.
