Memory 147 - A Day at Epcot: Part 15, O Canada!

Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can't actually be there. Today we'll continue our day in Epcot as we head from the front of the Canadian Pavilion to the back and catch the next showing of the great 360° movie O Canada!

Well our day in Epcot is winding down really fast, and we need to start thinking about our next adventure. I want to do something we haven't done before, and I'm torn between a full day at Animal Kingdom or a full day at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and I'll need your help. I'll put up a new poll so you can help me decide. Should we venture into Disney's Hollywood Studios or Disney's Animal Kingdom, either one from my recent trip in January of 2015. So keep an eye on the website and Social Media for more details. In the meantime, let's get back to our current memory in Epcot.

For those just joining us, we’re spending what was a rainy day in Epcot in early March of 2014. It’s Flower and Garden Festival, but the crowds are light (a 3/10 on TouringPlans.com), and the rain from the morning has given way to a beautiful evening. In Memory 146 we stumbled on a concert by Off Kilter as we entered the Canadian Pavilion. The concert is now over, and we've made our way to the back of the pavilion to wait for the next showing of O Canada! We'll join the memory as we've just passed the waterfall and are now making our way into the waiting area. We've got about 15 minutes before the next show (which I'll cut down for everyone) during which we'll get to enjoy some of the great background music in a near empty waiting area. Then it's our turn, we'll make our way into the theater, and be awed by the natural beauty of Canada. We'll end our memory shortly after this time since we walk outside and the pre-Illuminations music is already playing, which will be more fun to listen to in Memory 148.

For those of us that remember, this memory was updated to a new version starring Martin Short. The film clips were a lot of the same, just new orchestration and new narration. It did however bring in a new energy to the film, and I think it improved it. I love the way you really get swept into this 360° movie at times, more so than the others. I personally think I feel that sensation of flying more in this movie than with the one in the China Pavilion. It is still however starting to show it's age. I hope Disney is already digitizing these old films and cleaning them up, so that at some point in the future we will be able to enjoy them without the dust and jitters that happen during a film show. I still love this movie, and for years it's been our go to attraction whenever we visit Epcot.

Today’s memory is in binaural, so I’d suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.

Now sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And come with me as we soar around the majesty and beauty of our neighbor to the North.
