Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can't actually be there. Today we'll continue our day in Epcot as we begin making our way around the World Showcase. We'll start by stopping for a ride in the Mexico Pavilion on Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, and stumble on a performance of the Mariachi Cobre.
Phew what a week. Work has been very high stress recently, and I could really use an escape again to Walt Disney World. I wish it were an actual ride, but I am so glad I have these memories I can escape to. You know, I constantly hear people write in to various Disney podcasts about “How do I fill that time between trips with the Disney Magic?” and I can’t think of anything better than a binaural memory that puts you right in the middle of a Walt Disney World attraction. Make sure if you agree with me to tell everyone about this. There are more of these binaural podcasts appearing every day, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. But let’s get back to our memory for today.
For those just joining us, we’re spending a rainy day in Epcot. The crowds are light (a 3/10 on TouringPlans.com) and the rain from the morning has given way to a beautiful afternoon. In Memory 140 we got off Journey Into Imagination with Figment and began the return trip back to World Showcase to begin doing some of our favorite country attractions.
We’ll join the memory as we’re just walking up to Mexico. We decide to split up with Grandma and Grandpa. They’ll go to catch a showing of The American Adventure while we head inside Mexico. As we’re walking in, we hear it first, the Mariachi Cobre are performing right outside the entrance to Gran Fiesta Tour. We’ll stop and listen for 3 or 4 songs. And what concert would be complete without a little dancing. That’s right, Susie and I step into the space in the front and dance to a couple of songs. You’ll hear the music seeming to swirl around us as we spin around the floor. THESE ARE THE MOMENTS YOU CREATE MEMORIES FOR A LIFETIME.
Finally the music ends, and we get in the “line”. Truth is, we just missed getting on the boat in front of us, so instead we’re in the front of our boat. We’ll make our way around the lagoon, and soon we’ll be in the colorful lights of the The Three Caballeros.
Let me begin by praising the Mariachi Cobre. These guys are fantastic, and never fail to bring out a smile. Their blend and musicality is not just any old Mariachi, but that of a world class musical group. Take time to listen, they usually are outside, but on days like this where weather is impacting outdoor activities, often you’ll find them inside. And don’t be afraid to find your friend or loved one and take them for a spin, because this is where you create those memories for yourself.
As for Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, this attraction is always fun, especially for the kids. Mikey was a little afraid as we transitioned from the lagoon to cartoon area, but quickly he relaxed as we enjoyed the sights and sounds. The colors and music are very reminiscent of “it’s a small world”, so there is an immediate comfort and familiarity that can be felt by the kids.
Today’s memory is in binaural, so I’d suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.
Now sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And come with me as we dance and ride on one of the most amazingly themed pavilions in Epcot.
