Come and join us for another installment of the WDW-Memories podcast, where I try to make it possible for you relive your Walt Disney World Memories when you can't actually be there.
Memory 101, it’s like the new Millenium. I guess technically this would be 100 memories, since Memory 001 only told a background and didn’t share anything. But then there’s the 12 or so Christmas Specials I have released, so really this would be like 112 memories... carry the one... Never mind. We’ll just call it 101. And it’s a great show that I’ve been waiting for someone to request for a while. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has shown Beauty and the Beast-Live on Stage, for decades now. And I personally think it is probably the best stage show in all of Walt Disney World.
So our request came in via the voicemail line from Brandon. He called in and requested about 10 different attractions.
Brandon, I’m sorry to say I don’t have audio of all of those attractions. But I do have a few of them. So we’ll start your requests today with Beauty and the Beast-Live on Stage.
Now this show has changed many times over the years. Sometimes they would open with more backstory. I seem to remember them even opening with “Be our Guest”. However they do it, they never fail to impress. Belle is usually an amazing singer and carries the show. Gaston seems to be just as good and stands up to the level set by Belle. The dancing is fun and of course there are the characters which are always a hit with the kids. Oh, and if you’re concerned about it being scary for the little ones, I wouldn’t be too worried. They keep the storyline fairly tame as you’ll hear.
As always, I tossed it out to social media, and the responses I got were kind of sad actually. Here I thought this is probably one of the best stage shows in all of Walt Disney World, and I got everything from “I’m happier when I don’t see it”, to “I liked the preshow”, to “I didn’t even know it was there”. I hope to maybe change some your opinions with this memory.
So today’s memory is from 2006. It’s one of our 3 trips to Walt Disney World in the span of a month. It’s actually my birthday (2 days after Christmas). It has been insanely busy in every park we’ve been in. I vow this will probably be one of the last times I will attempt to visit the parks during Christmas. Traci and I are joined today by her parents and my dad, brother, and sister, and have made our way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios after spending the morning in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We’ve come from seeing Lights Motors Action, and have made our way back to the front of the park and down Sunset Boulevard, hoping to arrive early and catch the special mike check by 4 For A Dollar. Since I’d like to do a special 4 For A Dollar show later, I’m not going to include all that audio, but I’ll put some of it in there. We’ll join the memory as we’re taking our seat in the theater. Again, it’s packed so they’ll push us to move closer together multiple times. We’ll catch a bit of 4 For A Dollar, and then the show will begin.
Today’s memory is in binaural, so I’d suggest putting those headphones on to fully immerse yourself in the memory.
Now sit back. Relax. Close your eyes. And come with me as we catch the best stage show in all of Walt Disney World.
