Today’s episode has been requested by multiple individuals. Today we take a ride through The Haunted Mansion.
I don’t remember who exactly requested this first, but I remember receiving at least 3 different emails. So what would be better to get this show going again than one of my favorite attractions. Besides being an entertaining ride, it’s always cool, the line moves well, and the Cast Members obviously love what they’re doing.
So today’s audio was recorded back on our trip in December of 2006, on a wet gray day. We walked up to the outer door and took our place in line. As we’re standing there, we look to our left and try to catch Madame Liotta’s tomb stone looking at us. Finally the doors open, and we’re ushered into the waiting room where there’s a fire, but no warmth, and a portrait that begins to transform before our very eyes. Then it’s into another room with no windows or doors. A voice begins talking to us, moving all around us, the lights go out, a scream is heard and suddenly there’s an opening again. It’s through the short queue and into our Doom Buggy. We’ll pass by a player-less piano, a hall with various locked doors, through a séance (where the ride breaks down), then a haunted birthday party, and then a ghost bride in the attack. We stumble out the window and land in the graveyard, now able to see the ghosts fully. At some point here the audio in the car just plays static, but it comes back. We round the final corner, exit our buggy, and return to the warmth of the living world.
